The First Hour of the Day
— Nicholas Peters
How you begin your morning sets the tone for everything that follows. Guard those first sixty minutes like they are sacred — because they are.
My dear Kaitlyn, Caleb, and Brady,
How you begin your morning sets the tone for everything that follows.
If the first thing you do is reach for your phone, you have already handed the reins of your day to someone else — an email, a notification, a piece of news, an argument you did not ask for.
Instead, give the first hour to yourself.
Pray. Read. Move your body. Think clearly before the world starts shouting at you.
I have lived long enough to know that the people who master their mornings tend to master their lives. Not because the morning is magic, but because it proves to you — quietly, every single day — that you can choose discipline over drift.
Start there. The rest will follow.
Love,
Dad
