Our Foundation
Values · Family · Faith · Future
Eight principles shape how Nicholas and Miriam Peters live, work and lead.
They are not slogans. They are the standard Nicholas and Miriam hold themselves to at home in Charlotte, in their companies and in the public reflections they share. Each one is explained below in plain words, the way we would explain it at our own kitchen table.
Principle 01
Family First
The center of our lives. Every decision, every sacrifice, and every effort begins and ends with the well-being of our family.
In practice that means showing up: at the dinner table, at the game, at the hospital, and on the ordinary Tuesday when nothing special is happening. Work matters, and we work hard, but the companies exist to serve the family — never the other way around.
Principle 02
Faith
A quiet, steady trust in each other and in the principles we live by. It is the humility to be grateful, the grace to forgive, and the hope that carries us through the hardest seasons.
We don't wear it on our sleeves. It shows in how we carry ourselves on the bad days, how quickly we forgive, and how we keep perspective when things go well. Gratitude is the habit; humility is the result.
Principle 03
Sacrifice
True love requires giving of oneself. We build for tomorrow by being willing to do the hard work today.
Most of what we have came from years of early mornings, missed comforts, and choosing the long road over the easy one. Anything worth building asks something of us first. That effort is part of the responsibility, not a reason to lose sight of the people it serves.
Principle 04
Work Ethic
Nothing is handed to us. We believe in the dignity of hard work, discipline, and seeing a task through to the end.
Whether it is a job site in Charlotte, a client's design plan, or a homework assignment, the standard is the same: do it right, do it completely, and leave it better than you found it. Effort is the one thing you always control.
Principle 05
Resilience
Hardships will come. Our strength is not in avoiding adversity, but in facing it with courage and refusing to be broken.
Our family has walked through illness, setbacks, and seasons when the outcome was far from certain. What carried us was not luck; it was the decision, made again every morning, to keep going and keep each other going.
Principle 06
Loyalty & Integrity
Our word is our bond. We stand by those we love, and we do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
A handshake should mean something. We keep promises when they become expensive, we tell the truth when it is uncomfortable, and we stay loyal to the people who stood with us before anyone else did.
Principle 07
Caring for Others
Success is hollow if it is only for ourselves. We believe in extending grace, compassion, and a helping hand to those around us.
That looks like treating the person sweeping the job site with the same respect as the person signing the contract, giving time as well as money, and noticing who in the room needs a hand.
Principle 08
Building for the Future
We look beyond our own lifetimes. We are planting seeds for shade we may never sit in, ensuring the next generation is stronger.
Every home we build, every company we grow, and every lesson we write down in the Legacy Journal is meant to make the road a little easier for the people who come after us — in our family, our teams and the communities our work touches.
These principles are written as promises in the Peters Family Creed, explained in our public note, and tested week after week in the Legacy Journal.
These values are carried forward through every venture we build — from Peters & Associates to Peters Audio Video and our trusted preferred vendors.
