A Note from Nicholas & Miriam
Legacy
We are Nicholas and Miriam Peters. The story shared on this website is personal, but the conversation is public. It brings together our life in Charlotte, our partnership and the companies we have built, without asking readers to step into a private family letter.
What matters to us is not simply what gets built. It is how the work is approached, how decisions are made and how people are treated along the way. A finished home, a thoughtful interior or a real estate decision has a life beyond the moment it is photographed or announced.
Our beginnings taught us to take responsibility seriously. We did not always have the answers or the easiest path. We learned to keep moving, to ask better questions and to recognize that progress is usually the result of repeated effort rather than a single dramatic moment.
We believe in doing the work well. That means paying attention to the details, being honest when something needs to change and following through after the excitement of starting has worn off. Being busy is not the same as being useful. The standard is whether the effort serves the people depending on it.
We also believe that success does not give anyone permission to look down on someone else. The person cleaning a floor deserves the same basic respect as the person signing an agreement. Leadership should make it easier for people to do good work, speak honestly and know where they stand.
Our partnership is central to the life we built together. We bring different strengths and strong opinions. Working together does not mean agreeing on everything; it means keeping the shared purpose clear and treating disagreement as something to work through, not something to win at any cost.
Family remains part of that purpose. It keeps work connected to ordinary life: the conversations, routines and time together that cannot be measured on a balance sheet. This is context for our story, not a dedication that limits who the website is for.
The Peters companies express different parts of our work in homes, design, real estate and technology. Each business has its own responsibilities, website and agreements. The shared name connects the story; it does not turn this publication into a service provider or a parent company.
Our Family Creed and Foundation put these priorities into plain words. Integrity, resilience and care are useful only when they shape the next decision. We want to be thoughtful about that decision, firm about our responsibilities and still able to laugh at ourselves.
Thank you for taking the time to understand the people behind the work. Whether the starting point is our story, a company or an entry in the Legacy Journal, the aim is the same: a clear, honest view of what we value and what we are building.
