A great marriage. A trusted reputation. A business that outlives its founder. A body that still moves well at seventy. A faith that has been tested and held. None of these are quick.
Be one of the few who can wait.
Wait for the right person, not the convenient one. Wait for the right opportunity, not the loudest one. Wait to speak, wait to react, wait to spend the money you have not yet made.
Patience is not passive. Patience is the most active form of discipline there is. It is choosing, every day, to do the small, unglamorous, right thing while the world rewards people for doing the fast, flashy, wrong one.
Play the long game. It is almost always the winning one.
