My children,
One day, someone will inherit what you leave behind.
Not just the practical things — the accounts, the property, the businesses. Those matter, and we will steward them well together. But those are not the real inheritance.
The real inheritance is your habits, your reputation, your way of moving through the world. The stories people tell about you when you are not in the room. The way your name feels in the mouths of the people who worked with you, lived with you, loved you.
That inheritance is being built right now, one ordinary day at a time.
So build it on purpose.
Build a life where the people who know you best respect you the most. Build a body of work you would be proud to sign your name to. Build a marriage, a family, a faith that could stand on its own long after you are gone.
That is what makes a legacy worth the word.
And that is what I hope, one day, each of you will leave behind for the ones who come after you.
